Over the Weekend

On Monday, we will begin working the quotes into your text. have your rough draft ready before class so we can do this together. By Thursday, Midnight - I will be looking for the finalized drafts of this project.

Also, remember the link to EnchantmentSummaries. Jump in and edit in your information!

Announcement: Class will not be held next Friday, March 11.

Rough Drafts of Essay

Today we will begin a serious exploration through what you think of Cinderella and how it compares from one genre to another.

First, I would like to point out that Pam and Art have been working on the EnchantmentSummaries exactly as I had hoped. I encourage others to jump in.

Next week, I hope to hand out a summary of grades, absences, and assignments that have been finished. This way, you will know where you stand.

Next, we will go over the grading rubrik and look at what grade you are shooting for. This rubrik will be handed out at the beginning of class and should stay near you as you work on your essay. I will also ask you to write in the top of your /DisneyComparison page, what grade you expect and type down what that entails. Put this in an italicized comment along the top: Feel free to copy and paste this

Quick Tip

If you are feeling overwhelmed from so much information from the past few weeks : step back and look at the question for yourself. Compare Grimm's and Disney's Cinderella in your own words and ideas. What about one makes the other pale in comparison as a fairy tale?

When you have written out this draft, then go back to our discussions and readings and pull in the ideas and quotes that back you up. Or dispute statements with serious discussion about why they are not right.

Pulling together the /DisneyComparison project

First off, I would like to thank everyone for their participation in the messageboard sessions. This is an invaluable tool for our class to have individual voices heard and to discuss points that may have been skimmed over too quickly.

Today, we will discuss what needs to be done for this project and begin working on the finalized product. The directions can be found in the class wiki under /DisneyComparison in the "final projects" section.

We will begin class by discussing possible angles for the project. I will ask for a volunteer to keep the class notes for everyone's use and make sure everyone has something to work with by the end of class. The messageboards will be open for your use to discuss any other problems further with your classmates.

By Friday, I want to see a title and an edited beginning paragraph on the individual pages (/DisneyComparison). This will tell me you have a good idea on what you want to do and have been thoughtful on how you would like to approach the topic.

Disney's Cinderella Continued

We will continue the movie and finish off the discussions today.

I would like to begin discussions on the prompt for this project on Wednesday. So, please think about what intrigued you the most about the past couple weeks of assignments and discussions.

Also, I would like to remind you all that the reading schedule for the book is still listed and I am looking at your personal pages to make sure you are keeping up.
