/EnchantmentQuiz (Part 1)

Without using your book or online sources, please write a summary of what you have read so far. If you would like, use whatever formatting in order to put as much information as you need into this page (headers, bolding, lists... etc.). Don't worry about spelling at this point.

Make sure that when you give a list of the characters, tell us something about the character in order for us to understand who this person is (relevant information).

**Over chapters 1-7 (Leaves, True Love, Chasm, Kiss, Naked, Newcomers, and Conspiracies

Please copy and paste the part below this paragraph into your wiki page /EnchantmentQuiz - adding whatever you need to to make this page into something you can use for future reference.

Enchantment Quiz

Today we will have our first quiz on Orson Scott's Enchantment novel. Hopefully you will have had chapters 1-7 read and ready to show what you have learned.

For today and over the weekend, please read the selection from Jack Zipes and Bruno Bettelheim. Feel free to print these out in class and scan over them during the weekend.

Under your class namepage, type in under "Daily Assignments" :
/BrunoBetterlheim and /JackZipes

Make sure you put the slash before the page name - and when you have finished reading these selections, write in your own notes on what they say the usage of a fairy tale has and perhaps any reflections you may have from The Grimm Brother's Cinderella story I had you read earlier. We will discuss your thoughts on Monday.

Homework for Wednesday

For Wednesday, read Grimm's Cinderella pgs. 468-473

Reminder: quiz on chapters 1-7 of Orson Scott Card's Enchantment is also on Wednesday.

Fairy Tales and Movies

1)The Daily Assignment will be done under the Wiki's group pages. We will count out and make a few groups (depending on class size).

2)Next, you will come up with 15 movies or programs that you have seen or noticed as based off of a fairy tale. Make a list in your wiki group page.

3)After you have the list, make them as organized as possible and make headers of the basic fairy tale under which they are categorized. Then, add in for each movie a positive and negative aspect of the main idea(s) from the movie itself.

Keep in mind that each movie may emphasize a different part of the tale and I want you to think of the differences and come up with the positives and negatives.

IE:
Cinderella
*Cinderella - (A general desc.)Disney's - The negative main idea is, "being timid will be rewarded..." (or what your group thinks) and the positive main idea is, "Good will always come to those who are good at heart".
*Ever After - Drew Barrymore - The main idea is, "b......."
* etc, etc - etc etc - etc, etc

Little Red Riding Hood
*etc, etc, - etc etc - etc, etc
*etc, etc - etc, etc - etc, etc

4)We will then discuss the groups progress at 35 after the hour. I will ask that you save your pages and we will go through them in class and I will ask your group to present the list and your ideas on what the movie emphasized.
